Alesso Has Found His “Calling”

Alesso isn’t even old enough to buy a drink in the U.S. but already, the 19-year-old Swedish House Mafia protégé is headlining some of the hottest clubs in the country.

“It’s crazy,” he told Société Perrier recently from his room at the Wynn Resort in Las Vegas. “I’m not even allowed to drink here. But it’s so fun. I’m so happy. Everything is awesome and I’m having a lot of fun and that’s what it’s all about.”

The teenage deck phenom was discovered in his native Stockholm just a year ago after he gave a demo CD to the father of SHM’s Sebastian Ingrosso.

“(Ingrosso) called me and said, ‘Do you want to do some stuff together,’” Alesso (born Alessandro Lindblad) recalled. “It’s a big inspiration. I really admire his work.”

It didn’t take long for the two to hit it off as friends and colleagues. Ingrosso signed him to his Refune imprint and the pair went into the studio and created, “Calling,” which became a heartstopping, end-of-summer anthem.

“The track is just one big melody,” he said. “It’s big and happy and it’s banging. There’s a lot of love in it.”

The buzz landed him a much-coveted slot on a massive Halloween party at the Scope Art Museum in Miami on October 26th with Erick Morillo, Bob Sinclar and Ingrosso. And just a few weeks ago, he got his real introduction to the big leagues at Electric Zoo in New York City.

“I had a really early set and I was a bit worried. I thought no one would be there because everyone would be hung over,” he said. “But there were so many people that showed up. It was an awesome time.”

He’s focusing on doing remixes – he’s done re-edits for LMFAO, Pete Tong, Alex Kenji and Starkillers – as well as making songs for a possible full-length solo album down the road.

“I really want to grab people and take them on a journey,” he said. “Big melodies. I want to touch people in the heart.”
