Before P. Diddy shilled for Ciroc and Woody Allen appeared in ads for Smirnoff vodka, Frank Sinatra served as the ultimate unofficial celebrity “brand ambassador” for Jack Daniel’s whiskey. The legendary singer and actor often referred to the drink as “nectar of the gods” while performing and would have cases of it delivered to him at home and while on the road. (He was even buried with a flask of Jack at his side.)
Fifteen years after Sinatra’s death, the brand will honor Ol’ Blue Eyes with the release of a special 90-proof edition called the Sinatra Select. The whiskey is matured in specially-grooved “Sinatra Barrels,” giving it a rich color, bold character and smooth finish, reflective of the man himself. It will be released in limited quantity at select international airports and the company’s Lynchburg, Tennessee distillery, building up to a global launch in 2015 for Sinatra’s 100th birthday.
